OK the way IPMP works is that it has the two test interfaces that UDP ping either the gateway IP (or up to 5 reachable nodes on the same VLAN, or hosts in the local routing table).

I am trying to change the IP address in Solaris, but am failing to do so. The IP address needs to be a fixed number, like 10.0.11.10. I have tried changing the IP address in /etc/hosts which I changed the hostname and the IP address, but when I try ping the computer name, it says: Operating System - Solaris 9. Storage Foundation HA for Oracle - 5.0 MP1 RP5. Hardware - Sun V890 . NIC - 2 X Quad CE Network Interfaces . I'm testing a VCS installation, and I need some expert input in identifying the reason why the IP failed to come up on my standby interface “ce4” interface in my IPMP group, after a reboot of the switch connected to the primary interface. This document describes procedures for how to add a second Ethernet interface (hme1) on the Cisco PGW platform. This example shows only one interface plumbed, ce0, so the interface type is ce, and it is instance 0. Now sometimes the ndd command uses a generic device file, e.g. /dev/ce, and you need to set the instance number first to know which instance is being interrogated.

Mar 12, 2019 · The hme0:1 interface is now configured, it has a default netmask of ffffff00 (255.255.255.0), and it has a broadcast address of 192.169.1.255. You could have assigned different values if you wanted to.

Yes, all the interfaces show multicast. But I believe that this is for the standard multicast address of 224.0.0.1. The NTP multicast address is 224.0.1.1.
